She Will Not Be Quiet: A (mostly unedited) daily writing practice
Jotting from my journal. Day #168 of (mostly unedited) daily writing/sharing
A Jumble of Words
Clouds today. Crows yelling something I don't understand. They sound mad. I don't blame them, the world is a mess. Morning coffee, a book of poetry. So many more questions than answers. I light a candle because clouds inspire candles. Another Monday, nothing about it sexy. No plans, no hot date, no one offering to massage my tired feet. No flirty text. Not a thing to make me blush. No Pastel de Nata from a Portuguese café. Just a mind that can't help tell story after story, most of them sad. I must learn to tell happier stories. I want a story about a woman so comfortable and content inside of her own skin that not a thing can shake her. No sad stories to pull her under. No one to tell her no.

Day 13, Morning Writes, excerpt:
I've decided to do something radical today. Radical for me. Make every choice for joy. Follow my joy, check in, see if I can find her. No! Actually find her and invite her out to play: read, stitch, yoga, chat with friends, treasure hunt for felting supplies in London...whatever it takes... tea, scone, nap...whatever it takes to follow the joy, to practice what it's like to unapologetically make choices for joy.
Yes, I feel as Thomas does: the poem as poem is beautiful. Satisfyingly honest, a clarion call (I don't know what that means exactly, it's just the words that came!) Thank you. The line 'No sad stories to pull her under.' Thank you.
When I awakened this morning, having little on my must-get-done-today list, I decided to dedicated today to joy. I'll let you know how it goes... :)
