After My Daughters’ Visit
What if the point, the purpose isn't to achieve, to check another thing off the big list, isn't to perform some impressive dance, but to simply be where I am, show all the way up for whatever is here, for whoever is here. Right now the house quivers with quiet, quiet so quiet I can hear the hum of everything—the house that, just an hour ago, banged and buzzed with the four of us together in the kitchen, frying eggs, peeling avocado, buttering toast, foaming milk for our morning coffee, filling to-go cups for their drives back to their own young lives. And now, after wiping crumb-covered countertops, loading the dishwasher, sweeping the house clean, I sit on the porch and listen to the wind dancing with the trees, aching from already missing them, feeling around in the quiet for permission to be right where I am.

Day 18, Jill's Evening Write, excerpt:
There's so much that bombards the senses here. I am surrounded by so many disparities. Help me, God, to be brave and help where I can. Do what's mine to do. May I know deeply what is mine to do. And what is not.
I sighed aloud after this piece. Yes, permission to be right where I am. Thank you.
