And Yet
She Will Not Be Quiet: A (mostly unedited) daily writing practice
Jotting from my Journal. Day #185 of (mostly unedited) daily writing/sharing
And Yet
The world is a mad disaster, and yet the hummingbird still comes to my feeder to sip sweetness. People can be cowardly and cruel, and yet the checker at the grocery store hands you a bouquet of flowers when you tell him you're having a hard day. My mind is a wild mess of a thing, and yet there is wisdom buried deep in my belly that is wildly, roaringly powerful. Some people are power-hungry and lost, and yet here before me are women who came to spill ink and truth onto the page— just because, just because.

That opening line--
"The world is a mad disaster, and yet
the hummingbird still comes to my feeder
to sip sweetness."
I have had a similar thought so many times over the last few months. If feels like the world has gone mad, and yet nature keeps showing up. The birds keep singing.
And then this line--
"My mind
is a wild mess of a thing, and yet
there is wisdom buried deep in my belly
that is wildly, roaringly powerful."
Oh yes! Thank you so much for this, Julia. This poem is so powerful.
"and yet there is wisdom buried deep in my belly that is wildly, roaringly powerful."
I love this line. Thank you.
(I think I posted my daily write in the wrong place. Sorry!)
