Cruel Contrast
She Will Not Be Quiet: A (mostly unedited) daily writing practice
Jotting from my Journal. Day #189 of (mostly unedited) daily writing/sharing
Cruel Contrast
The young shoeless woman is in fetal position in the middle of the parking lot. As I get close, she screams obscenities and runs away before I can ask if there is something I can do to help. Me, with my car full of groceries, belly full of lunch, life full of people who love me. A tiny clip of cruel contrast in a world that so often forgets and forgets how to take care of ourselves, each other. I keep thinking about her, about the too many who have too little, while some overflow with too much. I don't know how to help. I don't know how to end this poem that is not really a poem but a prayer, an urgent plea for a world where everyone has enough.

Day 34, Morning Writes, excerpt:
I'm at the Tea House Theater now, across the table from Maggie the Tea House cat. It feels so fleeting this contentment, and the depression that settles so often inside of me makes me feel scared and sad. What can I do today that would help me engage in the world, feel a part of it, give to and receive from it?
Yes. The homeless man's swollen and bleeding heels are inside me. A prayer, an urgent plea. xo
