Everything is Speaking
A New Year's Poem, "PRANA": A 7 Day Yoga Journey & a Writing Invitation
Hello beautiful human,
Below is a poem for you, an invitation to join me in beginning this new year with a special 7 day yoga series, courtesy of Yoga with Adriene. And a writing invitation.
I have been practicing yoga with Adriene and her beloved yogi dog, Benji, for many, many years now, and I adore her and her sweet, four legged companion.
Rolling out the mat and connecting with my breath & body is one of the most deeply nourishing practices I know.
Happy New Year to you!
Here’s to knowing that you are worlds stronger than your wounds. Here’s to making space for the grand & glorious to grow. Here’s to being deeply present for life just as it is.
Everything is Speaking
If you get quiet enough, you will hear that every thing is speaking. Set me down, whispers mountain— I was never meant to be carried. Lean every ruined and ravaged bit of you against me, notice how held you are. You are not alone. Forest with all its scorched and fallen trees says—sweetheart, it’s alright, it is all right. Sometimes the mess has to be burned to the ground to let the grand and glorious grow. Let it burn. Giant cottonwood calls—come, rest in the shelter of my arms, hear these words— You are a wonder. Whatever terrible thing has happened to you does not need to keep happening. You are worlds stronger than your wounds. A pause in the middle of the day says—remember, remember darling, you are not the broken bits in the burn pile but the one who sees the wreckage and says— I am still here. If you get quiet enough you will hear that every thing is speaking. Set it down. Let it burn. Write the first word of your new story. Make it your very own
The above poem is one of 99 poems in my book “Staying in Love.” Signed copies of my book & poetry prints are available at the following link.
