Day #152 of (mostly unedited) daily writing/sharing
Another poem inspired by the beloved Andrea Gibson
Sit with me beneath the moon's light, and let’s let the sky fill in the gaps of what we're trying too hard to understand, sit with me in the shade of the willow, let its roots and branches, its kind, kind shade show us what it means to love without reason, without conditions. Let us hush all that is loud inside, pause to look each other in the eyes, no words necessary—just this. Just this. Let’s carry gentleness in our hands and hand it to each other, blow kisses at those too afraid to let love in, or out— they are so scared. Let us please please please drop the ambition of trying to be good, instead, let us be all the way ourselves, scatter love like it’s the most important thing— it is. It is. It is.

This poem made me cry. That opening stanza about letting "the sky fill in the gaps
of what we're trying too hard to understand," and the closing stanza about scattering love, are especially resonant. Thank you for this poem in honor of Andrea. They would shake their head yes to every line of this beautiful poem.
Let’s carry gentleness in our hands
and hand it to each other, blow kisses
at those too afraid to let love in,
or out— ❤️. 😘😘😘
