She Will Not Be Quiet: A (mostly daily, mostly unedited) writing practice
Day #219 of (mostly unedited, mostly daily) writing/sharing.
Sister Eileen
Words feel annoyingly inadequate sometimes, do you know what I mean? So blah, so bland, so distant from what feels close. Cliché. Especially when it comes to capturing an angel. No, capture is not the right word. I don’t want to capture anything. And anyways, you can’t capture an angel. I want you to know her like I did. But how do you know a butterfly, a blue sky, a poet with a heart too big for her small body? How will I go on without her words in my inbox? Her seeing of me? Her understanding? How do I convey how much I loved this angel who fell into my heart one almost-spring day? A breath of fresh air after the longest winter, a sky full of birdsong, a butterfly kiss from one poet to another. I'll just say this. I loved her. I love her. Her breath is gone, but her poet heart will walk with me everywhere. Her angel wings wrapped around me. Forever and ever close.

I’m so sorry to hear she’s moved to the mystery beyond. I’m so glad I got a chance to see how special she was when you hosted her in the group. I still think about her and her inspiring, mystic heart and artist soul 💕 Sending love
I bow to the hurting heart of this poem. All my sympathy, Julia. Sister Eileen sounds as if she were an effortless spreader of grace, like the birds whose harmonizings fill the sky.
