The Poet
She Will Not Be Quiet: A (mostly daily, mostly unedited) writing practice
Day #214 of (mostly unedited) daily writing/sharing.
Note: (I will now be posting MY (MOSTLY) DAILY WRITING only on weekdays, rather than 7 days/week)
The Poet
My grandmother grew up in Tennessee, smoked Camels, or were they Marlboros? Cigarette pinched between her lips, ash long and heavy as she strummed her old guitar. She raised six children on a waitresses' salary, outlived two of them. Sorrow burrowed inside her beaten bones. I wish I had known her better. Poet to poet, she is speaking to me now, what is she saying? I sit and watch the cursor blink—nothing comes.
Join poet Alix Klingenberg (author of four poetry collections, including her most recent “Quietly Wild”) and me—for a conversation (via Zoom) about writing & the writerly life. I’m so excited for this! I hope you can join us.
