The Space Between Gloom & Glory
A poem. A reminder. And an audio recording of me reading "Trying to Understand" (one of my most recent poems).
THIS THIN LINE
This life is so much to hold. And I don't know how to make space for the so-much of it. I am afraid. And sometimes, often, I trip over the moment in awe. And sometimes, I feel both at the same time, and a whole wild whirl of other things I don't know how to name. As I walk through this tired, tender day, I turn to the yellow finch, to the sweet fawn feeding herself in my front lawn, and I plead: Please show me how to live in the space between gloom and glory, how to walk this thin, thin line between here and gone, how to lay myself down so I can be wings for the weary, a blanket for sorrow— like finch, like fawn.
