Special Note: After posting here (mostly) daily for over 200 days, I have decided that I want/need less screen time & more time to focus my attention on getting my next book in the world. I will continue to post here when I am moved to do so.
My weekly email & Sunday Spark will go out as usual.
Day #248 of (mostly unedited) writing/sharing.
The Stirring
The stirring is so strong I can't help but string words, one at a time, until there is a web woven from my heart to yours. I want to feel you, want to know that you feel it too, this stirring, this pulse of life coaxing us closer—like the goldfinch gifting the maple with her splash of gold. Please, let us listen, let us answer the call— let us string our song from one branch to another. Let us scatter our gold everywhere.

Ah, the goldfinch! Grace made visible. Splashing gold, an annunciation. Thank you, dame goldfinch; thank you, Julia.
This poem, Julia. Oh my goodness. YES.
"this pulse of life coaxing
us closer—like the goldfinch
gifting the maple with her splash
of gold."
Every line feels like an invitation to honor our own stirrings, to share and connect, to "scatter our gold everywhere." This poem is heart-medicine.
PS: I am quite certain that I will think of this poem every time I see a Goldfinch from now on. I am so delighted to see one of my photos alongside your gorgeous words. Thank you, friend.
