When One of Us Shines
She Will Not Be Quiet: A (mostly daily, mostly unedited) writing practice
Day #219 of (mostly unedited, mostly daily) writing/sharing.
Note: I won’t be posting my daily poems here from 10/17/25—10/24 (as I am going on vacation & will mostly be taking a screen break). I’ll see you back here on 10/27. xo

When One of Us Shines
I stand beneath the stars this morning, sliver of moon too, sky so clear and sure of herself, I feel my certainty too. It’s astonishing, really, to think the moon would be invisible without the sun’s generous light, how the stars, too, would be invisible without the dark of night. When one of us shines, the other does too, like this— like the sun, like the moon.

Oh, that "sky so clear and sure of herself"! And sun and moon, paying their light forward.
