A spiritual but yet grounded masterpiece. Thank you Julia. I try to have a daily writing practice too but “clouds get in my way” sometimes.

Thank you so much, Philip. I hear you about the clouds!

Love/

Loss

Philip Quigley

Is it a game of chance

Or a merry dance

An amiable liaison

Of humankind

I can choose to let it

define me,

confine me,

refine me,

outshine me,

or I can choose to move on

and leave love behind me

And follow my life’s

purpose

Or Dharma

When you stop making excuses,

you'll finally start

And progress abounds

All those times you thought

you couldn't survive

what you were going through;

you did and you found yourself

So You're amazing.

The ego is not who you really are.

Not by far

The ego is your self-image

Only a reflection of

Your true self

That should be consigned to a low shelf

it is your social mask

Like coffee in a flask

it is the role you are playing

To impress the fool

Who is swaying

Your social mask thrives

on approval

Because

It wants control

and it is a Role

sustained by power,

because it lives in fear

Unlike the Soul

Life is one fool

Thing after another

Whereas Love is two

Fool things after each other

A woman waits motionless.

Until she is wooed

That is how the spider

waits for the Fly

Like your highness

The real genius for love

Lies not

In getting into love

But getting out of love

If you love her/him in rags

Your love will last

It will never be lost

And a man is already half

In love with any woman

Who listens to him.

If you are listening

There’s no snow glistening

In this winter wonder land

So

Never promise a fish

Until it’s caught

And on the dish

And a friend’s eye is

The best sign of a true

Connection

And perhaps love shines brightest

After singing in the rain

Or after enduring pain

Of loss

Maybe Love is nothing more than

A second hand emotion

Without a soul connection

It’s only a distracted futile

Commotion

Unlike a Soul promotion

Therein

Lies

True devotion
