A Call Back
She Will Not Be Quiet: A (mostly unedited) daily writing practice
Day #74 of daily writing/sharing
A Call Back
Lately, I imagine each disappointment, each ache, each quake, each scrape of sorrow, to be a whisper, a knock, a call, a siren, that is saying— Come back. Back to that invisible force that lifts us from the ground when gravity greed grief pin us down, back to that something that grows a human from a single cell the size of a poppyseed. A human who has eyes that see the dew drop, the child’s smile, the next word of the poem, the next step toward home— back to the ground, the dew drop, the child's smile, the next word, the next step. Did you know that, if the blood vessels in a human body were laid end to end, they would be long enough to wrap around our Earth two and a half times— that, in the dark, the human body emits a very faint glow eyes cannot see? Is it possible to know these things and still not believe in— something? Is it possible that there is infinitely more than what these eyes can see?

A spiritual but yet grounded masterpiece. Thank you Julia. I try to have a daily writing practice too but “clouds get in my way” sometimes.
Oh Julia....this poem. This poem. You have such a gift, my friend.
