A Little Closer
She Will Not Be Quiet: A (mostly unedited) daily writing practice
Jotting from my journal…. Day #59 of daily writing/sharing
A Little Closer
I don't want to write a poem today. Instead, I want to sit inside the sun's warm arms, listen to the chattering of Red-winged Blackbird, robin, goldfinch, Pine Siskin, Black Phoebe— they have joined me for coffee and I don't want to miss a single, song-saturated moment, want to sit here with the pretty purple camas, the just-bloomed tulips, the happy Oregon grape, want to watch my delightful dog chase and chase her tail, consider that I have been alive for 55 glorious springs, one that brought me my Love, two that birthed my beloved daughters, each has breathed me a little closer to what feels like blossoming— planted me here inside this song-saturated moment. The one that, just now, has passed.

"I don't/want to miss a single, song-filled moment with them." This is such a lovely, vivid poem, Julia.
