Allowing Myself to Be Caught
Sometimes writing looks like sitting beneath the poplar, bare feet resting in the cool, afternoon grass, eyes staring out to the restless mountain lake— yes, there is a stern voice inside insisting that I do something I can check off the list, but a kinder voice gently invites me to hush, invites me to give myself permission to be unproductive, lazy, directionless— urges me to lie back in the cool, green grass and allow myself to be caught.
