An Afternoon Prayer
She Will Not Be Quiet: A (mostly unedited) daily writing practice
Day #108 of (mostly unedited) daily writing/sharing
An Afternoon Prayer
Please, let me give in to the tenderness— strip away what is carefully covering, let me let a moment be just as a moment is. (As if I have a choice.) This afternoon, I slowly peel an orange until I am left holding just the soft, citrusy center— as I take that first, juicy bite, I taste the orange just as the orange is. When the squeeze of sorrow settles, please let me remember to let sorrow be just as sorrow is. Let me give in to the tenderness, the tender, temporary is-ness of life just as life is.
