An Evening by the Sea
She Will Not Be Quiet: A (mostly unedited) daily writing practice
Jotting from my journal. Day #169 of (mostly unedited) daily writing/sharing
An Evening by the Sea
The Pacific is fifty feet below us, waves kiss the shore again and again, never once taking a rest. We sit side by side, crack crab shells, pry open oysters, dip into the buttery, garlicy goodness, laugh, chew, sip, savor. An occasional eagle soars overhead, then lands in a nearby evergreen. Bellies full of sea, summer all over our skin. A feast I can still see, hear, taste when I close my eyes and listen.

Day 14 Jill's Morning Write, excerpt:
So it turns out I suck at making space for joy.
At least I had the Monday writing circle - a new session with three women who live in London - one raised in China, one in Zimbabwe and one in Ireland - and three Oregonians. There was some anxiety about beginning something new, but by the end of the 90 minutes there was laughter and tears, along with openness, honesty, vulnerability and gratitude. The world grew a little smaller. Blessed be.
Mmmmm.
"When I close my eyes and listen."
Thank you. x
