While reading your words, I thought of Andrea’s below poem. I’m so happy you are here writing with me, Jill. xoxo
Instead of Depression l Andrea Gibson
try calling it hibernation. Imagine the darkness is a cave in which you will be nurtured by doing absolutely nothing. Hibernating animals don’t even dream. It’s okay if you can’t imagine Spring. Sleep through the alarm of the world. Name your hopelessness a quiet hollow, a place you go to heal, a den you dug, Sweetheart, instead of a grave.
I cherish the straightforward enumeration of the thankworthies: "summertime, fresh berries, good friends." --- Thank you for sustaining both yourself and your readers with your poetry practice.
"everything/in me crackles with contentment." What an absolutely gorgeous line, Julia. I love this whole poem, but this line is lingering especially close to my heart. Thank you, my friend.
Day 12 Morning Writes. Thank you again Julia, for the invitation to share here. Excerpt:
"Depression is here.
Again.
I'm tired of having you as my teacher!
I want another teacher!
Boredom... or anything but you would do!
But here we are.
Gentle, gentle, gentle, Johnson.
Be gentle."

Thank you for the poetic medicine here. This is one for me to memorize. x
Jill, you’re so welcome. Andrea’s words are medicinal, for sure. 💗🙏💗
Oh Amen and amen! Still-warm berry cobbler! It's rippling. I feel it. I know it's rippling. It can't help but ripple, right? Blessings.xo
