Can You Feel It?
She Will Not Be Quiet: A (mostly unedited) daily writing practice
Can you Feel It?
Today, I light a candle for those who are scared, for those who have lost and lost, for those who are victims of horrific injustice. Today, I imagine a world where kindness is the soil beneath our feet, in the water we drink, in every word we speak, in the honeyed air we breathe. Today, I am called away from words toward something else— I close my tired eyes and see a sky full of tiny lights, more vital and vibrant because of this dark, dark night— a sky twinkling kindness, a beaming breathing showering of kindness— Can you feel it?

"a sky twinkling kindness,/a beaming/breathing/showering/of kindness—/Can you feel it?" I can feel it. Thank you for the love you pour into the world with your poetry, Julia.
"And then we emerged and saw once more the stars" (Dante). --- Oh, this palpable and efficacious blessing. Let us have natural growing things. Let forsythia softly blare its triumph over all our bane and blight and bitterness. I bless the soil from which your poems grow.
