She Will Not Be Quiet: A (mostly unedited) daily writing practice
Jotting from my journal…. Day #63 of daily writing/sharing
First, This
It can be as simple as sipping the water slowly on this Wednesday afternoon, squeezing in fresh lemon because it feels like joy to add that citrusy spritz, scattering the tiny lupine seeds your daughter gave you for your 55th birthday. As simple as taking three, deep breaths in the middle of a busy moment, breaths that carry you back to the scent of this slipping spring. As simple as jotting down a few true words—no attention to shoulds or "good." Yes, the floors need to be swept, the call returned, the dishwasher unloaded, your mother-in-law awaits yet another heart surgery. There is so much to worry about. But, first—this. A moment to pause whatever you are doing to notice that the orange tulips in your flowerbed bloomed overnight, the daffodils that were golden goddesses (just last week) have already fallen back to sleep.

"the daffodils

have already fallen back to sleep."
What a beautiful, vivid imagine, Julia. This is such a deep-breath-of-a-poem. Thank you, my friend.
