Inside My Daughters' Voice
She Will Not Be Quiet: A (mostly unedited) daily writing practice

INSIDE MY DAUGHTERS’ VOICE
I was going to sit with myself this morning with hopes that a poem would arrive, but one daughter called three times, just to talk, the other daughter needed help working through a hard breakup, the dog needed her morning walk, the cat insisted on his Fancy Feast. Even the sunshine was insistent, reaching through the kitchen window to invite me to walk in her warm, winter arms. And then I remembered, I don't need to go looking for the poem, it is always here beneath my feet, inside my daughters' voice, in the dog's sweet eyes— in the way life always gives me just what I need.
