Lesson from the Bison
A couple of days ago, I learned that when there is a storm bison walk straight into it. I can't stop thinking about this. It feels like a message, like something to pay attention to. It is storming inside this small body. I'm so very tired of being pelted with rain, blown over by the winds of not enough. I keep yelling stop stop stop. What have I forgotten? What have I forgotten?

I love this lesson from the Bison. Thank you. "What have I forgotten?" So good. xo
I am taking Julia's delicious 6-Week Write Yourself Free Class which started yesterday. Thank you for the invitation, Julia, to join you here with our writing. I am taking the step - it's a big one for me! - of doing a 10-minute write everyday and then maybe even posting it here! (Please let me know if this is the correct place to be posting this...)
Here is Day 1 of my mostly unedited :) 10-minute write:
July 24, 2025 - My big baby boo's birthday
Hello dear one. It's 5:43a.m. on your Golden Day. Thomas Cubitt (Master Builder, Born 1788 - Died 1855) is outside my living room window, very proud of his beautiful architecture here in Pimlico, and very proud to join me in wishing you a Bonne Anniversaire, a Feliz Cumpleanos and a Happy Happy Birthday.
24.
It's a big number.
For me, it's when I started my spiritual path. Truly. My boyfriend and I broke up and although I was devastated, I knew it was the way forward - or something inside of me knew. I reached out for help. My first therapist. Ellen. Beautiful soul who became both mentor and friend, along with opening me up to a world so much bigger and deeper than I could have possibly imagined. Thank you Ellen. Thank you Gods and Goddesses for guiding me to a being so full of light and love. Thank you boyfriend for setting me free when I didn't know how to leave, and for exposing me to another way of seeing far outside the realms of my neat and tidy childhood Christianity package. Jesus is a way to the sacred and there are so many others.
So, hello, dear one. 24. Golden you. Beautiful big-hearted, big farted you. Girl of flying high, flying trout, of passion, of beauty, of remarkable generosity, good-will, intelligence and creativity. I am kvelling over you. Thank you for choosing me as your Mama, for loving me amidst the imperfections of me, amidst the angst I carry around being "good" - a good Mama, a good girl, a good daughter, a good human. Thank you for being one of my best teachers, not always because you are trying to be, but because by being you, you are.
I love you sin fin. I am proud to be your Mama. I am grateful for the honor. Merci beaucoup ma cherie. And a very happy birthday to you. xoxo
