Listening for Words
She Will Not Be Quiet: A (mostly unedited) daily writing practice
Day #91 of (mostly unedited) daily writing/sharing
Listening for Words
I thought it was just me— that I entered this world ill-equipped. Not smart enough, not quick enough, no sense of direction. Spin me in a circle and I have no idea from which direction I came. My most-voiced words are: I'm confused. I don't know. I don't understand. Why? How will I ever fit in? It turns out, I was never meant to fit into a world of strive and hustle. I was meant to notice the tree-shadows on the forest floor, meant to snuggle inside the song of a moment, meant to sit here beneath the kind oaks, pen in hand, listening until words land like raindrops on parched ground— then to jot down what I see.

SPECIAL NOTE: I am super excited to share that I am currently working on my third book of poetry!
I would absolutely love to have a space where I can retreat for a while to give this book my full attention. If you happen to know of a writer in residence program or know of an available, peaceful retreat space, please let me know. xo
Signed copies of my book “Staying in Love” & signed poetry prints are available at the following link.

I think I may be your biggest new fan. 😆

💯 Same. 🥰
Thank you for sharing your voice.
A phrase one hears quite often in the rooms of recovery: "I never got the instruction manual" --- of life, that is. I certainly didn't. I bow to those who listen to the shadows of the oaks.
