Little Big Miracles
A poem for your day & wishes for a blessing-filled Thanksgiving
Dear friends,
I could not be more overflowingly thankful for this community, for those of you who take the time to read my words, for those of you who reach back with your own words. For you, Jenna, who send me photographs of birds, little glimmers of wonder to brighten my days (like the precious one below).
Phew.
Life has been a whole lot—in the world, with my people. Health scares, that, thank God, have mostly only been scares, or are fixable (thank you, modern medicine), the loss of a dear poet friend recently, the normal brutal-beautiful of everyday living.
It truly is the little (big) things that save me.
Below is today’s daily poem that speaks to the immense gratitude I have for the little things.
I wish you the happiest, most love-filled Thanksgiving.
Thank you for being one of my little-big blessings,
Julia xo
PS: If you haven’t already watched Andrea Gibson & megan falley’s documentary “Come See Me in the Good Light,” I can’t recommend it enough. Holy shmoly, the beauty. Be sure to have a box of tissues close by for this one.
Oh, and, have you seen “Between the Mountain & the Sky"? This is another must-see, inspiration-packed gorgeous documentary.
Day #238 of (mostly unedited, mostly daily) writing/sharing
Little Big Miracles
It takes so little, really— to turn a day, maybe a whole life, around. A soft smile of me-too from the stranger in the hospital waiting room, the nice nurse who leans in close and calls you honey. The moment in the parking lot when, finally, you get to hug your healthy daughter and she holds longer than she needs to. The neighbor who shows up at your front door, homemade bread in hand. The friend who sends you photographs of birds because she wants you to have a moment of beauty in your very hard day, and she knows you love few things more than you love birds. A moment with the moon— how she lifts your head, gives you everything simply by shining her light. The good news. The exhale. The full table. I can’t stop saying thank you. I don’t ever want to stop saying thank you.

Julia, it always makes my day to see a photo of mine alongside your gorgeous words. I so love to share these moments of beauty with you, as generously as you share your poetry. I am deeply grateful for you. I know that life has been a lot, and I am wrapping you in so much love.
Thank you Julia 🤎Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving to you and your family 🙂
