Message from the Wild Iris

You are not like the others.

You were never meant to fit into a world 
of bright lights, big cities, never meant  

to push, perform, conform, 
pretend, sit pretty. No. 

You are meant to beam light
into all those lightless cracks, 

to fling poetry
to every thing in your path—

you are meant to 
     open your mouth, to let 

the music pour, spill, 
     splash.

Song cannot be stuffed 
or snuffed—

sing, my love. 
     Sing.
