My Lily
She Will Not Be Quiet: A (mostly unedited) daily writing practice
Jotting from my journal. Day #78 of daily writing/sharing
My Lily
While walking between classes, my daughter calls— Can you talk? She asks. Whether I am fully focused on figuring out yet another technical puzzle, writing an important email or poem, rolling out my yoga mat, or or or— the answer is always an immediate yes. She excitedly reviews her day— highest grade in the class on the exam she was so worried about, had a blast at her soccer game last night, loves her job as athletic trainer intern. She sends beaming photos of her with her closest college friends. My heart grows bigger with each moment I hear the aliveness, the joy, in her voice. Gotta go to class now, Mom. I love you. We hang up, my heart swelling swelling swelling, still swelling.
