"the hummingbird inside." Oh yes! How I adore this notion that writing nourishes "the hummingbird inside." I love this poem SO much, Julia. Thank you for not listening to that old voice. Thank you for keeping the pen moving. Your poetry is so important. It is such a gift.
“how I dislike that turn of phrase” I am so with you, @Elizabeth Beggins . Thank you for reading my words and for leaving yours here for me - it’s so appreciated. xo
love the crows, and the cowers. It reminds me that I get to choose what voices to pay attention to - the ones that make me feel small or the ones that make me feel alive. Beautiful poem. Thank you.
Julia, there is quiet power here, admirable resolution. I pause after the third stanza, just to let the language in. To let intuition do its thing. And then, there is another "ah!" at the very end. Thank you, as always, for the gift of your words, & for the spirit within them.
Thank you so much, @Amrita Skye Blaine. Thankfully, I know enough not to listen to that dumb, deeply unhelpful voice, yet it rattles on nonetheless. I appreciate you. xo
“I keep the pen moving anyway” a line that serves as a mantra of resilience. This poem is beautiful. Thank you for sharing!
@Emma Paulina , thank you so much for taking the time to read my words. I so appreciate it. xo
Wow! This whispered to my soul. Thank you, Julia!
Blessings,
~Wendy💜

A piece all writers can relate to (even those of us with "real" jobs -- and oh, how I dislike that turn of phrase).

Sinda, yes - absolutely. We always get to choose, don’t we? (Thank goodness!) Thank you so much for taking the time to read my words. xo
Yes me too dearest Julia...writing is "the only way I know how to pry open what still cowers inside me." So grateful for you and your words ❤️
Thank you, beautiful Gaye. I’m grateful right back (for you). xo

Love & big hugs to you, beautiful @Kellie U . xo

Thank you for this, dear @Thomas DeFreitas . Thank you for being here, for sharing your thoughts, for being one of my people.
dear friend,
ignore that "grumbly old voice."
And this:
"The old voice tries to convince me
that I am too alone, too late, too old,
too tired for all of this." NOT NOT NOT!! Simply not true, Julia.
Sending big love,
Amrita

Those voices do rattle on, don’t they.
But as to age, I turn 80 next month! I simply do NOT listen to ageism in any form. This is the most creative period of my life.
So looking forward to our chat!!
Me too, @Alix Klingenberg !
