On Mother’s Day
I am thinking about mama deer feeding her young fawn a mouthful of spring green, fawn munching happily—the mama in me smiling from my kitchen window. This home is mostly quiet now, my own babies feeling their way through their own spring green. My heart must keep stretching and stretching, and still there is not enough space for this sky full of ever-expanding motherly love.
