She Will Not Be Quiet: A (mostly unedited) daily writing practice
Day #124 of (mostly unedited) daily writing/sharing
Permission
Please, let me not measure my days in thumbs up, or thumbs down, in how much I check off— rather, let me measure my days by the number of conscious breaths I took, by the moments when I paused everything to really listen to what the Western Tanager had to say— by how much mercy, love, forgiveness, kindness, hugs I gave to myself, and others, by the moments I stood still and watched the silly dog chase her tail, and laughed until laughter spilled, by the permission I gave myself to sit on the front porch with my head to the sun for far too long, by how many lines of poetry dripped from this purple pen, by how beautifully close I got to each murmur of a moment— and, when I forgot it all and left myself again, how I kissed myself with kindness and began again.
