Preparing for Flight
She Will Not Be Quiet: A (mostly unedited) daily writing practice
Jotting from my journal…. Day #51 of daily writing/sharing
Preparing for Flight
Each day I am emptied, opened, shown a little bit more. Shown, not small facts and certainties but knowing— deep, transcendent, wild, burning-in-the-belly kind of knowing. And what do I know? I know that I will no longer leave myself to chase your dreams. I get to do what I want, imagine such freedom. I will stay open and more open to real, constantly-changing knowing. In order to be open to real knowing, I must not decide. No wonder I've had such a hard time making decisions. Perhaps this was my soul, the knowing in me, trying to help me see, trying to wake me to deeper listening, deeper knowing. The knowing that was buried under lifetimes of—so much. The knowing that was here waiting to be unearthed. So, here I am, dirt beneath fingernails, wings preparing for flight— smile smudged with earth and knowing.

This poem takes my breath away and then gives it back to me, deeper, fuller, and more peaceful.
