Saying Yes to What I Know
She Will Not Be Quiet: A (mostly unedited) daily writing practice
Day #50 of daily writing/sharing
Saying Yes to What I Know
It's taken over five decades to see that I get to say yes to all that is truly true in me, yes to saying no to you if it means saying yes to me, yes to resting when I need to rest, yes to going as slow as I need to go, yes to knowing what I have for so long known. It took decades to see that I get to choose the next right thing, no need to apologize justify explain. Oh, and that I am not responsible for how you respond to this me that I am. Your response is so beautifully yours. I stand beneath the blossoming cherry tree, look up at the prayerful white petals (with whispers of pale pink), and let myself be kissed and kissed by their exact flavor of beauty, thanking them for being just as they are. Oh, this life. How tiring it has been to refuse. And now I get to choose and choose again— I choose to cradle my yes-es, watch as these newborn buds blossom blossom blossom some more.

"Oh, this life./How tiring it has been to refuse. " Oh my goodness, yes! I feel this in my bones, Julia.
"I am not
responsible for how you
respond to this me that I am. Your
response is so beautifully yours."
And THIS. THIS. I need to write this down and remember it always.
YES! To this! "I am not responsible for how you respond to this me that I am. Your response is so beautifully yours." Beautiful, Julia.
