The Greenest Grass

I am learning that the grass is never greener 

on the other side. Really, it isn't.


It is a ridiculous trick this mind plays 

making me think

something good is just on the verge 

of happening.


Just over there 

is the gold, the riches, 

the real deal, the truest truth. 


But it is always here

that the grass is greenest, 


the riches, the richest, 

the beauty 

most beautiful.
