The Shelter Within
She Will Not Be Quiet: A (mostly unedited) daily writing practice
Jotting from my journal: Day #114 of (mostly unedited) daily writing/sharing
The Shelter Within
How far she has traveled away
from the self that has always
been here, the self resting silently
in the center—
away and away from the one
and only one who could soften
the sorrow, soothe
the ache,
strengthen the strength. Away
and away from the only one
who could answer the questions,
quiet the quarrels.
She only ever needed to move closer,
change the direction of travel
from out out out to
in in in.
She travels back now—
curls in close
to this sheltering self
within.
