She Will Not Be Quiet: A (mostly unedited) daily writing practice
This Tuesday Morning
After yesterday's wind and rain and more rain and more wind, the birds are singing wildly, delightfully, as if they are celebrating, as if they know just how starved I am for their song. The sun has found her way through. The honey-scented candle my daughter gave me for my birthday dances on the windowsill. There is a heaviness inside of me this morning that I didn't think anything could lift, but— these birds. This sunshine. When I walk to the kitchen to get my coffee, I notice the cat curled inside his too-tiny basket looking heart-stirringly irresistible. The moment I reach out for his softness, he purrs loudly, insistently— like he is celebrating, like he knows how much I need his softness, his purr. This is what happens when we reach for one another—bodies purr, hearts stir, birds on distant branches open their tiny mouths and sing.
I am happy & proud to share that today is day 20 of this daily writing practice.

WALKING INTO THE GREEN
There is a path with dappled light
I am walking into it
It beacons brightly
The sign is clear
This is one way.
This is the way into the green
Following the curved path
The path that is softer
The path that is sheltered, by nature
Yet still lets the light in
(I wish I could add a picture to this post to show you this green way).
