Sometimes the light is just right, the words, the compliment, arrive right on time, sometimes you look at me with your blue blue eyes and I remember the way you saw me all those many years ago, before we grew babies and toddlers, teenagers, and young women, before I learned how to make a home inside myself, a home so tender, I no longer look to others to water the seeds only I can grow. That’s when I learned how to love you better, that’s when the light began to beam away the night. Sometime the flowers bloom and you bow and you bow and you bow because you no longer take miracles for granted.
