A New Kind of World
She Will Not Be Quiet: A (mostly unedited) daily writing practice
A New Kind of World
Jotting from my journal…. Day #42 of daily writing/sharing
I envision a world where more is not better—busy is not boss, a world where hate and greed and lack are words that no one understands— a world where all breathing beings have full bellies, warm homes, a a reason to giggle and skip and say thank you— a world where softness, simplicity, sharing, acceptance become the gurus, the threads, the quilt we can all wrap ourselves in and rest, finally. Rest inside our own soft skin— downy-feather soft, peony-petal soft, fluttery-butterfly soft, soft like safety. Safety— a word the whole world finally understands.

I'm with you, Julia. I've been writing every day for almost 33 years. Three years ago, I began writing a poem every day. I was inspired by Rosemerry Wahtola Trommer (who has written a poem a day since 2006!) and follow her model--write it, share it. When I'm staring staring staring at the empty page, I reread her four promises:
1. I will write.
2. Writing doesn't have to be good, but it has to be true. What is the next true thing?
3. I cannot know the ending when I start! Put yourself in service to the poem. If you think you
know the ending, write right past it.
4. I will share it! (My additional words: yes, it's a raw draft. Yes, I will edit it repeatedly. That
doesn't matter. Share it anyway.)
